The Clermont Hotel in Atlanta, GA has a long history. GG was a resident for a couple months in '91 and at some points in '92 and '93. At one point he was dating a stripper by the name of Tasha and would frequent the lounge. Although GG and the Murder Junkies never officially played at the Lounge, they were invited on stage by The Opal Foxx Quartet before being stopped by the manager. As some of you know, GG made an ode to the hotel in his 1993 single "Look into my Eyes and Hate Me/Hotel Clermont". The Southern Baptists, the backing band used for the tracks consisted of Jeff Bakos (bass), Freddi Griffin (drums), and George Marchman (guitar). Freddie went on to help the Murder Junkies during another concert where GG and Dino was arrested the day before and Dino couldn't be bailed out in time.
The passage below is a section of an article that gives the account of GG from Anita Rae Strange AKA Blondie's point of view

For nearly nine decades, the Clermont Hotel has accommodated everyone from white-collar workers to prostitutes under a single roof at 789 Ponce de Leon Ave. "You can tell that this neighborhood had once been elegant," former hotel resident and exotic dancer Atlanta says. "Over the years, it degenerated into a seediness that was not forgetful of all the old manners and customs."...
While the building was once one of Atlanta's most revered spaces, it fell into disrepair over the course of its 89-year history. "I used to hook up in that bitch, you know, turn tricks," Clermont Lounge exotic dancer Blondie says. "That was 30 years ago, honey. I charged $20 for a blowjob or a fuck but usually people would give me more money cause I was good. I would sit and talk to them and then they would want to go again."
Room 21 remains underwater after a pipe burst on the fourth floor and flooded several rooms below. Estimated costs of the Clermont Hotel's repairs range from $10-$30 million.
Months before accidentally overdosing in 1993, shit-hurling New York City punk rocker GG Allin rented room 216 for an extended stay. According to Blondie, he was dating one of the Clermont Lounge's workers when he recorded one of his final songs, "Hotel Clermont." "He was a sweetheart," she says. "He stayed in the hotel and used to sleep all day." Years later, his room became worthy of pilgrimage for younger hipsters. "Can we stay in the room where GG Allin killed himself?" Atlanta remembers overhearing when she lived at the hotel. "I don't think he died there. But they wanted that room!"

Blondie is also very interesting. Known for her act of crushing Pabst Blue Ribbon cans between her breasts. Shes been working at the Clermont Lounge since 1979. She is considered an Atlanta Cultural Icon and was subject of a short documentary in 2012. She still works at the lounge but also is a poet and a writer.
